The Tara Great Stupa team (K. Lek, Glaang, Jun, Ek, Yontan) and I will be going to Nepal on June 9-16 for a pilgrimage as well as a study of art and architecture of this country and the application of Tibetan art to contemporary context.
Personally, this trip is a chance to pay homage to the two great stupas of the world: Bodhnath Stupa and Swayambhunath Stupa. It is an auspicious opportunity to visit Guru Rinpoche’s meditation site in Pharping, to pay respect to senior Tibetan masters, and to witness thriving culture of Tibetan Buddhism. The trip is also a long-awaited reunion with Tibetan and Newar friends in Kathmandu.
Stories and reflections will be shared in this blog… I’ll be praying and prostrating at the sacred sites on behalf of the Thousand Stars patrons and family.
Thanks are due to K. Pranee for necessary things to take along and to K. Jirajett of the Thai Embassy in Nepal for kindly opening his home to us.
