Evening to Remember
It has been already five days since we started sewing prayer flags. Several friends of the Foundation have come to help. We are doing well and it seems we’ll be able to finish all the work by Saturday as planned.
Yesterday my students of Tibetan Bank, Bo, and Nuch (the latter comes everyday) joined the work. In the evening Bank gave me a lovely surprise to celebrate my birthday which was a week ago.
With Bo (art student at Silpakorn), Noi, Bank & Nuch
So the evening turned out to be a little party in which we enjoyed both the food and each other’s company. It’s wonderful to see young students want to preserve Tibetan and Chinese ancient wisdom and to preserve the noble teaching of Lord Buddha. We have a common concern on how little people understanding the teaching and how Buddhism (for all traditions) has become an object of materialism in this country. Yontan asked the students to study a lot because they will be the future of this society. He said the reason Tibetan culture still prospers is because Tibetans have unweaving faith in Buddhism and they have “Tibetan wisdom,” which is rooted in Buddhist philosophy and practice.
